Life just can’t get any better. Two research findings have stated the obvious. One claims that dark chocolate is healthy for you. The other discovered that puppies and dogs are good for you as well.
I wasn’t born yesterday. In fact I’ve lived over half a century. It doesn’t surprise me that dark chocolate and puppies are good for you. In fact, it seems sort of obvious. Anything that brings so much joy to your life has to be healthy. Right? Actually, what’s interesting is why dark chocolate and puppies are healthy.
The newest research on dark chocolate has discovered that the little tiny bugs, the microbes that live in our gut makes the chocolate healthy. Apparently the microbes convert the dark chocolate into all sorts of healthy antioxidants and other healthful compounds that get into our blood stream and lower blood pressure and supports heart health. We’re not talking candy bars here. We are talking pure unsweetened cocoa powder. You know, the stuff you sneaked as a kid only to discover it tasted really nasty. This is a problem. Fortunately the researcher provided a little insight on how to benefit from cocoa powder. He puts it on top of his oatmeal in the morning. He therefore capitalizes on the cholesterol lowering oatmeal and the blood pressure reducing chocolate. Throw on blueberries and you will have one of the best heart healthy cereals know to man. Now all you need is a dog.
Dog ownership is one of the joys of life. It also turns out that it might help your kids with allergies. Apparently, one of the joys of owning a dog is sharing what is on the dog … the outdoors and their dander. It seems that owning a dog early in a child’s life might help your child with allergies later on, even if the parents are sensitive to dogs. Cats apparently do not help us in this regard. Cats are probably just to aloof to care. I mean seriously, when did a cat ever do anything helpful in the house. Dogs at least eat the popcorn off the floor.
So the moral of the story is this. If you want to live a happy and healthy life, eat more cocoa powder and get a dog. It really isn’t that hard.
